Job summary

The Northbridge Companies is seeking an Activity Assistant to work with the Engagement Director in delivering engaging, resident-centered activities. You will plan and run programs that support physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being, helping to create a vibrant community.

You will collaborate on a variety of events, connect personally with residents, and assist with arranging trips and gatherings. Weekend and evening shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in recreation, gerontology, or related areas is a plus.
• Strong affinity for working with seniors and building connections.
• Creative planning and the ability to lead diverse activities for varying interests.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
• Effective communication and kindness are required.
• Must be flexible to work weekends and evenings; basic computer use for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run a variety of activities with the Engagement Director, including exercise programs, art projects, trips, and events with speakers or music.
• Connect with residents to tailor activities to interests and needs, ensuring meaningful experiences.
• Help plan outings outside the community with safe, organized logistics.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where residents can make friends and explore new interests.
• Maintain records of participation and feedback to improve programs.
• Share creative ideas to keep programs engaging and aligned with resident interests.

Activity Assistant Job Summary

• Connect with residents personally, understanding what they like and need to make sure activities are enjoyable and meaningful.
• Help plan trips outside the community, organize details, and make sure residents are safe and happy.
• Create a warm and inclusive environment where residents can make friends and discover new interests.
• Keep records of resident participation and feedback to help improve our programs.
• Share creative ideas to keep our programs exciting and in line with what seniors like.

Qualifications:

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some classes in recreation, gerontology, or related areas are a plus.
• Love connecting with seniors and naturally get along with them.
• Be creative and able to plan and lead activities that suit different interests and abilities.
• Organize things well and pay attention to details.
• Communicate effectively and be kind.
• Be flexible to work different shifts, including weekends and evenings.
• Know basic computer skills for documenting and communicating.
