Job summary

McCormick seeks an Activities Assistant to plan, implement and evaluate recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs for residents, in accordance with each resident’s assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors.

You will observe attendance, mood and involvement, document progress, coordinate with other departments to ensure uninterrupted activities, prepare rooms, purchase supplies, maintain confidentiality, and help residents with crafts, letters, errands,

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating activity programs and quality assurance in the facility.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and involvement to evaluate progress; document notes.
• Develop and maintain rapport with other departments to ensure activities run without interruption; foster warmth and calm environment.
• Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs; advise on equipment and supplies needs.
• Assist in cleaning up activity areas after functions.
• Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for residents.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and treat residents with dignity at all times.
• Oversee residents in scheduled activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts and projects.
