Job summary

Goldwater Care is seeking an Activity Assistant/Aide to support planning, execution, and evaluation of recreational and social programs tailored to residents’ needs. The role emphasizes empathy, teamwork, and adherence to care plans, ensuring a comforting and engaging environment.

The position involves coordinating with other departments, preparing spaces for activities, and assisting residents with crafts, letters, and errands, while maintaining confidentiality and safety in a long-term care

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating activity programs & quality assurance in the Activities Department.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and involvement; report and chart progress.
• Develop and maintain good rapport with other departments to ensure activities run smoothly.
• Prepare activity rooms and equipment; advise supervisor on supplies needed.
• Assist in cleaning activity areas after programs.
• Follow the care plan when providing daily activities for residents.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and respect privacy at all times.
• Oversee residents during activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being.
• Assist residents in-room by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts.
