Job summary

Alvernia University seeks a Director of Residence Life to provide visionary leadership for the Office of Residence Life, fostering a vibrant, safe, inclusive residential community and supporting student success, belonging, and development.

The role oversees housing operations, residential education, programming, and staff development, while ensuring efficient departmental operations and cross-campus collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Higher Education or relevant years of experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team-lead experience.
• Proficiency in relevant systems, databases, and software applications.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, evaluate processes, and implement improvements.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, or travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Office of Residence Life (ORL) and provide strategic direction.
• Oversee housing operations, residential education, programming, and staff development.
• Develop and manage ORL budget and assess departmental performance.
• Respond to student concerns and emergencies to support safety and welfare.
• Represent the university at recruitment events and external partnerships.
• Coordinate onboarding, training, and professional development for ORL staff.
• Foster a collaborative, student-centered team culture and effective communication.
