Job summary

North Carolina Central University in Durham seeks an Area Coordinator to oversee a large residential community, supervise student staff, and develop programs that promote student development and retention. The role includes housing approximately 3,000+ students in on-campus facilities and requires a master’s or higher education background for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 2-4 years’ related experience.
• Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
• Experience supervising student staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and RMS-Mercury/StarRez.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of a residential community housing 900–1000 students.
• Develop a safe, secure, and engaging living environment that supports academic excellence and student development.
• Directly supervise and develop Resident Advisors and Desk Attendants; coordinate staff meetings.
• Provide leadership during crises and coordinate emergency responses as needed.
• Develop programming to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
