Job summary

The University of Georgia in Athens, GA is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to join University Housing within Housing-Facilities-Maintenance. This full-time position supports 1,000–2,000 residents across residence halls, with a 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

work schedule and potential evening/weekend shifts. Responsibilities include daily maintenance tasks, basic repairs, and safety inspections, ensuring a safe and well-kept living environment for students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Five years of experience, vocational training in one of the applicable trades, or any equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders requesting service.
• Participate in maintenance related activities to develop proficiency in all aspects of skilled trades; assist with electrical, plumbing, doors/windows, appliances, painting and grounds maintenance as needed.
• Perform filter changes and minor periodic maintenance for equipment within residence halls.
• Inspect fire extinguishers in common areas monthly and maintain documentation.
• Inspect and clean mechanical rooms and storage areas; ensure accessibility of doorways and entrances.
• Participate in summer and on-call duties and other tasks as assigned.
