Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University Behrend is hiring a full-time Residence Hall Utility Worker (Behrend) to join the facilities team. The role involves cleaning, waste management, moving equipment and supplies, light maintenance tasks and helping with residence hall operations.

Responsibilities include trash removal, carpet and floor care, snow and exterior maintenance, and documenting issues for supervision. Employment is within the Teamsters Local Union No.

Qualifications

• Minimum work experience 1 to 2 months of qualifying or on-the-job training.
• Job Requirements: basic writing, arithmetic and following instructions; use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments.

Responsibilities

• Empty and clean waste containers.
• Remove and dispose of all trash and debris from building.
• Move bags and carts of linens to linen lockers or receiving areas.
• Receive, move, sort, store and deliver equipment, furnishings, linen and supplies; open cartons and move items to and from student rooms or storage areas.
• Clean floors, stairs, carpets, and furniture as instructed.
• Shovel snow and maintain exterior areas as directed.
• Report maintenance problems to supervisor.
