Job summary

UW-River Falls is seeking a Custodian to clean residence hall facilities, remove waste and recyclables, and monitor building security and safety after operating hours. You will maintain sanitary restrooms, hallways, and entryways; perform minor maintenance; document inventory; and respond to issues after hours.

Applicants should lift up to 50 pounds, work independently or with a team, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated communication skills with supervisors, coworkers and students
• Submit time electronically via online system
• Submit work orders online and check email
• Organize work tasks in a logical and effective manner
• Recognize safety concerns and follow safety procedures
• Recognize and report building problems and concerns
• Operate or learn to use custodial equipment
• Learn to use cleaning and related chemicals
• Read and follow instructions
• Ability to work independently or in a team
• Lift 50 pounds or more
• Respond to residence hall issues after hours

Responsibilities

• Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
• Maintain sanitary conditions in restrooms, hallways and lounge areas
• Maintain lobby and entryways daily
• Clean during semester and summer breaks
• Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
• Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
• Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
• Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
• Completes minor maintenance requests as needed
• Supports general maintenance and repair of facilities
