Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is seeking a Residence Life Facilities Technician to oversee maintenance and project coordination for 11 residence halls. You will ensure safe, well‑maintained facilities and respond promptly to student needs while coordinating work with staff and external contractors.

This role requires inspecting and repairing custodial equipment, supervising supply inventory, and supporting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, with occasional on‑call

Qualifications

  • Three years of maintenance and/or operations experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, comfort with public speaking, able to listen and learn, generate trust among various constituencies, and exercise good judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse groups or individuals and build partnerships; able to operate comfortably and effectively in cross‑functional teams through multiple levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to function in both independent and team environments.
  • Demonstrate analytical, problem solving, organizational and management skills.
  • Organize work tasks logically and efficiently, demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects, and work within shifting priorities and schedules.
  • Recognize safety concerns and adhere to safety procedures, communicate facility issues, read labels, and follow instructions for proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Able to perform manual labor including lifting of up to 50 pounds or more and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, group calendar, email, electric files, and able to learn payroll system, and event scheduling system.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and project coordination for 11 residence halls.
  • Coordinate work orders, inventory, and repairs for custodial equipment and facilities.
  • Assist with building control systems to ensure proper heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Collaborate with Residence Life staff and external contractors to support student success and safe living environments.
  • Be available for emergency/on‑call coverage and occasional weekend or evening duties.
