Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Software Engineer for the Research Tools team. You will build full-stack infrastructure and applications that empower researchers to iterate, run experiments, and derive insights.

This is a product-engineering role spanning frontend, backend, and data layers to accelerate our frontier AI initiatives. You’ll collaborate with researchers and engineers to understand workflows, identify bottlenecks, and ship platform solutions that scale with scientific needs.

Qualifications

• Experience building tools/platforms for technical users (engineers, researchers, data scientists).
• Shipped full-stack products and owned systems from UI to storage or services using TypeScript/React with Node/Python/Go.
• Built data-facing tools like transcript viewers, diffing systems, dashboards with strong UI rendering.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the full-stack applications and infrastructure researchers rely on daily, including experiment setup, feedback collection, and results analysis.
• Own complete product areas from user needs through design, implementation, and iteration, setting standards for research apps.
• Create reusable platforms and tools to speed up new research applications, prototyping and iterating based on real-world use.
• Partner with research teams to translate workflows into intuitive interfaces and abstractions for complex tasks.
