The Medical College of Wisconsin seeks a Research Technologist III to manage laboratory operations and support ongoing projects in Dr. Yang Xiao's Physiology lab.
The role blends wet-lab mammalian cell culture with dry-lab data analysis and requires strong organization and independent work. Key duties include daily lab operations, inventory, equipment maintenance, documentation, training new staff, performing cell culture, and conducting bioinformatics analyses using Linux, R and Python.
We seek a responsible, experienced, and highly organized Research Technologist III to manage laboratory operations and support ongoing research projects in the laboratory of Dr. Yang Xiao in the Department of Physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Our research focuses on the epigenetic regulation of hepatic and cardiac physiology.
This position combines laboratory management with wet-lab experimentation and dry-lab data analysis. The Research Technologist III will help ensure efficient daily laboratory operations and supporting research personnel. For the wet-lab component, the ideal candidate will have strong experience with mammalian cell culture. For the dry-lab component, basic bioinformatics skills and working knowledge of Linux, R, and Python are required.
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education an on equivalent basis.
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
Little or no exposure to hazards such as dust, fumes, or extreme temperatures, airborne or blood borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, or allergens.
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
