Job Summary

Conducts tests and procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records observations and measurements and collects and compiles data in a research lab; requires a practical understanding of a limited number of standard scientific techniques.

Salary & Grade

Salary/Grade: NEX/9 (Target hiring range $17.25 - 22.09 per hour; target budgeted salary approximately $40,000 to $43,200 annually).

Responsibilities
  • Histology: tissue fixation/processing (embedding, preparation of blocks and sectioning, staining).
  • Microscopy.
  • Animal dissection.
  • Running behavioral experiments with mice.
  • Scoring behavioral videos.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Competencies
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and established protocols.
  • Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and complete assigned tasks reliably.
  • Manual dexterity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or a related field.
Preferred Competencies
  • Prior exposure to a laboratory or research environment (academic coursework or volunteer experience acceptable).
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques or animal handling.
  • Interest in neuroscience or biomedical research.
