The Sangwan Lab at the Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician to join our lab in Chicago to work on stress signaling pathways. The role involves DNA/RNA/protein work, recombinant protein expression, and cell biology tasks in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

• Cell culture and isolation; gene editing using CRISPR; transfection and functional studies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $19.89-$25.64 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

The Sangwan Lab at the Feinberg School of Medicine is looking for a research technician to join our lab to work on stress signaling pathways. May complete mathematical calculations, and/or computer tasks and/or assist in judging validity of data. Candidates with experience with recombinant expression and protein purification, protein biochemistry and structural biology will be preferred. We are looking for a passionate and curious scientist to join our team.

Specific Responsibilities:

Molecular Biology:

• DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, purification and expression Western blotting


• PCR


• Plasmid preparation


• Cloning, mapping and sequencing of DNA


• Recombinant protein expression in bacterial, insect and mammalian cells.

Cellular Biology:

• Cell culture, cell isolation


• Gene editing using CRISPR


• Functional studies


• Transfection

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

• Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
