Job summary

NC State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a motivated Research Technician to support the Burclaff Lab and its study of intestinal stem cells, metabolism, and cellular energetics, using mouse models, primary human intestinal stem cell cultures, and molecular biology techniques.

Responsibilities include assisting experiments, managing equipment and inventory, maintaining records, and contributing to publications and grant applications in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a research lab.
  • Experience in mammalian primary cell culture.
  • Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (PCR; RT-qPCR; gel electrophoresis; DNA, RNA, and protein extraction; immunofluorescence; immunohistochemistry).
  • Experience in mouse colony management (animal handling, breeding, weaning, genotyping, etc) and in vivo experimentation

Responsibilities

  • Execute experiments using animal models, cell lines, and primary cultures.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, manage equipment and inventory.
  • Maintain accurate records, manage scientific data, and contribute to publications and grant applications.
  • Proficient in standard lab equipment, troubleshooting, computers, and data management tools.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently while fostering a collaborative, supportive team environment.
