Position Overview

This position serves as a lab manager/research technician for Dr. Anumantha G Kanthasamy's research lab in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology. The lab conducts NIH-funded research on neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory mechanisms related to Parkinson’s disease and neurological disorders, focusing on biomarker discovery and testing therapeutics in preclinical models.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and execute experiments, optimize assays, and manage projects.
  2. Perform behavioral, neurobiochemical, and histological assays, with prior experience in mouse work.
  3. Maintain accurate records, manage lab supplies, and ensure proper disposal of biohazard waste.
  4. Animal care including monitoring health, administering treatments, and collecting samples.
  5. Communicate findings and maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge in the field (apprenticeship, 2-year degree, or professional certificate).
  • Experience or willingness to handle rodents.
  • Good communication skills, attention to detail, and computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work with protective gear.
