Job description

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Research Technician (CATI Supervisor) at its Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (Job Duties)

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing) Supervisor. In this role, you will play a key part in training and coaching interviewers, executing shift call plans, ensuring the quality of our survey operations through evaluations, and fostering a productive and friendly work environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in supervising a team of 20 CATI stations, interviewers, and support staff to ensure high productivity and efficiency.
  2. Oversee daily operations and quality control of the CATI lab, including training, scheduling, assigning tasks, and ongoing assessment of staff working in the lab and remotely.
  3. Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of telephone interviews.
  4. Maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency among the team.
  5. Monitor data collection progress and call dispositions, providing regular updates to project leads and leadership.
  6. Work a flexible schedule between 8:30 am and 9:30 pm, including weekends, to accommodate survey participants.
  7. Collaborate on data management and in planning and implementing data quality assurance plans.
  8. Prepare regular updates for the Center Director and Managing Director.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of CATI supervisory experience, including training interviewers in an academic setting.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with CATI supervision, performance assessment, and using CATI software.
  • Knowledge of CATI programming software is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, professional, resourceful, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong diplomatic, oral communication skills.
Additional Information

Employment Type: Temporary, full or fractional time, staff/administrative category.

Compensation: Hourly wage, $25-$32 per hour.
