Job Summary

The Research Technician Assistant will be recruiting and screening research participants, including healthy individuals as well as those diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and with agenesis of the corpus callosum (two clinical populations that we study). They will also be conducting interviews, administering questionnaires and psychological tests; collect eye tracking data in the lab; and schedule and help with scanning in Caltech Brain Imaging Center. They will work in a collaborative environment co-supervised by Drs. Ralph Adolphs, Lynn Paul, and Na Yeon Kim.

Essential Job Duties
  • Keep up-to-date and well-organized databases and spreadsheets that track research participants and the studies in which they have participated.
  • Screen participants on the phone, interview them and give them task instructions in person.
  • Physically meet participants and bring them into the lab for testing.
  • Conduct eyetracking experiments, including calibrating the eyetracker and collecting data.
  • Help with brain imaging studies, including taking participants down to the Caltech Brain Imaging Center and serving as a scan buddy during imaging.
  • Weekly meetings with supervisors and other lab collaborators.
  • Data organization and visualization.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must have experience with human-subjects research.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in interacting with participants
  • Must be able to do basic data tracking, analysis, and visualization in software such as Microsoft excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior research experience with autism.
  • Prior experience with eyetracking and analysis of eyetracking data.
  • Prior experience with data analysis and visualization, including statistical analysis.

Hiring Range

$20.50 - $24.75 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
