Position Summary:
The Research Technician will support applied, basic, and translational research in virology, immunology, and epidemiology of human and food animal infectious diseases. This role involves executing molecular and viral research projects, managing lab resources, analyzing data, and assisting with experimental animal studies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct experiments and assays in virology, molecular biology, diagnostics, and immunology (50%)
• Collaborate with and assist other researchers in the lab (45%)
• Help train new lab personnel (5%)
• Procure reagents, supplies, and equipment
• Organize and summarize experimental data
• Troubleshoot and optimize research methods and reagents
• Prepare and submit samples for sequencing
• Participate in all aspects of experimental animal studies and data analysis

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in biological/health science or animal disease research
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Animal and human viruses
  • Cell cultures
  • Molecular cloning
  • Immunological procedures
• Ability to critically interpret and organize research data
• Strong cooperative attitude and willingness to work in a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with food animal models (e.g., pigs)
• Familiarity with statistical analysis software
