Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Research to define and build programs that research teams need most. You will move across domains like compute, evals, RL environments, and emerging initiatives, creating lasting impact where none existed before.

You will embed with researchers, lead end-to-end initiatives, establish processes, and coordinate across research, engineering, and product to accelerate execution in a fast-moving AI research environment.

Qualifications

• Background in ML research or engineering with several years of experience building technical programs.
• Experience with training, evaluation, or large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to ramp on unfamiliar technical domains quickly and contribute to discussions with researchers.
• Experience with incident response and reliability of complex systems.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership of cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Embed deeply within a research domain to understand the technical landscape and identify high-leverage problems.
• Move across research areas like compute, evals, RL environments, and emerging initiatives.
• Drive end-to-end execution of complex, ambiguous research initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Establish processes and frameworks to bring structure to unstructured environments.
• Lead efforts like large-scale compute resource planning and prioritization across teams.
• Drive eval readiness for model launches with standardized results and honest reporting.
• Own execution and operational health of RL environments across major training runs.
• Equip leadership to make quick decisions with deep technical tradeoffs.
• Act as the connective tissue between research, engineering, and product teams.
