Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Research Program Manager to embed with research teams and drive technically complex programs behind model development in San Francisco. You will translate evolving research priorities into actionable programs, navigate technical tradeoffs, and keep critical work moving as new issues emerge.

This is a hands-on role engaging with research workflows and engineering constraints. The position is based in San Francisco with a hybrid model (3 days in office per week) and relocation

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in research program management, technical program management, or related roles in fast-moving environments.
Ability to engage substantively with researchers and engineers on topics like model training, evaluation methods, data workflows, and compute infrastructure.
Proven track record of moving complex technical initiatives forward across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Strong communication across technical and nontechnical audiences and leadership.
