Job summary

Job description

Job Overview

The University at Buffalo’s Center for Integrated Global Biomedical Sciences (CIGBS) is seeking a laboratory Research Support Specialist to support the Clinical Pharmacology Quality Assurance (CPQA) Laboratory Program. In this position, the individual will employ laboratory methods such as liquid chromatography with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry, assure sample collection and storage parameters, and ensure regulatory requirements are followed.

Responsibilities
  • Follow CIGBS policies and standard operating procedures to perform technical and laboratory administrative support.
  • Use, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Order, use, and maintain laboratory resource inventories and associated records.
  • Prepare, qualify, and maintain reagents for laboratory‑developed tests.
  • Create, update, and maintain laboratory and program‑associated records.
  • Support CPQA program, including shipment of panels, reporting, document maintenance and review, and audits and accreditation.
  • Complete annual training and continuing education as required by institution, sponsor, and laboratory policies.
  • Work with chemical reagents and biological specimens that may contain infectious agents (e.g., HIV) following established safety standard procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in a related field with at least one year of applicable laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a regulated (CLIA, GLP, GMP, ISO) laboratory environment.
  • Technical experience in a laboratory that uses USP or laboratory‑developed tests for research purposes (clinical preferred), product quality assurance (GMP preferred), or bioanalysis.
  • Technical testing experience using hybrid mass spectrometry technology and its associated sample‑preparation techniques in human or animal matrices.
Physical Demands

Requires wearing and working in personal protective equipment, handling chemical, biological, and other hazardous materials in BSL‑2 laboratories. Must lift or carry a minimum of 25 lbs and be able to stand, sit, bend, reach, kneel, walk, and adjust focus. Successful candidates must pass a color vision test.

Driving Requirements

This position does not involve driving a university‑owned vehicle.

Salary Range

$55,000 – $65,000.

Work Hours

Monday – Friday.

Campus

South Campus.
