Med-Pharmacology and Chemical Biology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - ( 26006122 )
Completes general laboratory chores, including scheduling, stocking, cleaning, autoclaving, glasswashing, sterilization of laboratory glassware and setting up and maintaining laboratory support equipment for Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology as well as the Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute (OPTIn). Performs quality control testing in accordance to prescribed protocols; evaluates test results QC and maintenance of laboratory support equipment. Records all quality controls instituted to ensure test validity (calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment). Maintains Conference rooms for Department of Chemical Biology and Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute, including setting up for seminars, classes, and meetings as well as working with IT Operations to ensure equipment is in working order and supplies are maintained. Departmental support including mail/deliveries, printer maintenance, office supply inventories, etc. Assists Operations team and Lab Managers as directed/needed under close supervision. Adheres to departmental safety standards in responsibly handling, processing, and testing biological materials.
Job Summary
Performs general laboratory tasks, maintains inventory and equipment and orders supplies and parts, performs quality control testing, and assists other staff.
Walking from place to place; standing and sitting to perform essential tasks. Good manual dexterity.
Lifting and stacking of boxes of supplies, standing for extended periods required to fulfill workload. Light - Maximum lifting of up to 20 lbs. With frequent lifting/carrying of up to 10 lbs. or a negligible amount; significant walking or standing may be required or may involve sitting with a degree of pushing and pulling.
