We are expanding our team and seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to join Hollis + Miller as Research Support. This role prioritizes a master’s degree in social science, data science, or a related field, along with at least one year of experience collecting, managing, and analyzing datasets. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree must have proven experience in education research.

Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree and/or experience in fields of education research preferred. Bachelor's degree in social or data sciences with vast experience collecting, managing, and analyzing large qualitative and quantitative datasets required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in data analysis tools such as SPSS and NVivo.
- Firm grasp of data visualization and representation utilizing graphics to convey a data informed solution. Representation of these skills through proficiency in graphic tools such as Adobe Creative Suite applications, Microsoft PowerPoint or Canva preferred.
- Leverages strong writing skills to support and engage unique audiences of various ages.
- Demonstrates a passion for how data can bring positive impact to institutions and communities through learning environments.
- Communicates clearly with Research Director, building a strong connection to understand how data becomes actionable into project design, providing proactive suggestions to obtain impactful data.
- Approaches work with creativity and positivity, focused on high-quality relationships built from clear communication.
- Ability to internalize feedback with open demeanor and adapt quickly with a high degree of responsiveness.
- Driven to excel through personal accountability and initiative while resolving challenges that arise with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
Role Responsibilities
- A member of the Vision & Strategy business pillar.
- Reports to the Research Director, collaborating across departments with members of the Education Design Team as needed to support data-driven project design efforts.
- Research & Analysis
- Promotes a research-based mindset and takes a curious approach to how data can inform decisions and the ability to explore in a self-directed way
- Executes data collection efforts through the design and implementation of surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observation. Creates transcripts, provides data entry, and facilitates member checks for a variety of projects.
- Conducts literature reviews and summarizes existing research on key topics to further the research of HMA.
- Reviews data from targeted collection efforts through qualitative and quantitative methods, performing phased analysis to achieve a rich understanding.
- Analyzes data longitudinally, translating findings from one-off efforts into long-term understanding of annual research topics.
- Understands strategies behind annual research plans, identifying areas of unique data analysis that leverage multiple data sets to explore strategic findings.
- Summarizes qualitative and quantitative findings and presents data effectively in multiple formats, reaching internal and external audiences in scaled ways.
- Content Creation
- Supports the process of research sharing through the creation of white papers and blog posts for HMA digital channels as well as formal journal publications.
- Creates reports of findings, collaborating with the Research Director and graphics team members for refinement.
- Share findings within the Firm through professional development opportunities and deliverables collaboratively created with the Education Design Team.
- Data Management
- Supports standards for managing and archiving collected data at a macro and micro level, bolstering the opportunity for longitudinal impact.
- Stays current with archival trends and software that supports ease of use and user retrieval and proactively looks for ways to improve data management practices over time.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Research Director or Senior Partner, Vision and Strategy.
