Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Veterinary Technician to join our Greenfield, IN team, supporting the veterinarian with radiographs, blood and fecal samples, and routine animal care in a regulated laboratory setting. Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm EST with overtime and some weekends.

You will perform procedures per SOP and protocol, assist with anesthesia and surgical prep in a non-surgery suite, maintain documentation, and ensure animal welfare and QA compliance while delivering excellent client service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or Laboratory Animal Technology preferred.
  • 6+ months’ hands-on life sciences or veterinary experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure animal care complies with regulatory guidelines and ethical standards.
  • Perform animal husbandry duties and assist in procedures per protocol.
  • Interpret study protocols and apply GxP principles.
  • Maintain documentation and QA audit readiness.
  • Support anesthesia, surgical prep, and sample collection as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 am-3:30 pm EST overtime and some weekends required.

The Veterinary Technician will support the Veterinarian by performing radiographs, collecting blood and fecal samples, routine animal care procedures such as dog dentals, physical exams, monitoring animal health and other veterinary laboratory procedures as well as surgical requirements (non-surgery suite) including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities in compliance with appropriate SOP, Protocol, and Regulatory Agency guidelines:

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure animal care complies with regulatory guidelines and ethical standards.
  • Perform animal husbandry duties as needed.
  • Report and assist in resolving animal care concerns.
  • Interpret and follow basic study protocols.
  • Apply good research practices (GxP) principles.
  • Review documentation and understand QA audit requirements.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Utilize computer software for study activities.
  • Conduct study procedures per protocol, SOPs, and regulations.
  • Learn and perform medicant administration, physical exams, dosing, sample collection, and restraint techniques.
  • Learn and assist with euthanasia methods, surgical prep, anesthesia, and surgical procedures.
  • Manage time and resources effectively.
  • Support other departments with study-related tasks (e.g., restraint, blood collection).
  • Gain knowledge of ACUA and IACUC activities.
  • Build positive relationships with veterinary staff and other teams.
  • Participate in process improvement projects as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Life Sciences field (e.g., Biology, Wildlife, Pre-veterinary, Zoology, Genetics, Environmental Biology, Animal Science, or related discipline), OR an Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Veterinary Technology, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and 6 months or more of hands‑on experience in Life Sciences (such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, or animal science) that provides the knowledge and skills required for the role.
  • 6 months or more experience in a veterinary practice or clinic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician.
  • AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level.
  • 6 months or more experience in a vivarium setting with familiarity in animal welfare standards (IACUC, AAALAC, or similar guidelines).

Pay Range: $22/hr.-$25/hr. All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
