Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Research Assistant to join the Animal Operations team in Greenfield, IN. You will perform animal care, dosing, sample collection, and measurements while maintaining AAALAC standards and documenting findings in LIMS.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or related program, OR Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field.
  • 2+ years of college in related Sciences field AND 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation

Responsibilities

  • Provide animal husbandry duties and welfare
  • Perform dosing techniques with small and large animals
  • Perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals
  • Collect biological samples
  • Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
  • Maintain AAALAC-compliant animal care standards
  • Perform medical imaging
  • Monitor for behavior changes
  • Document findings in LIMS
  • Report any animal concerns to supervisor

Research Assistant (Study Tech) in Greenfield, Indiana

Labcorp is seeking a Research Assistant to join our Animal Operations team in Greenfield, IN!

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm (once fully trained will require working every 3rd weekend (both Saturday and Sunday))

Job Responsibilities
  • May provide husbandry duties to small and large animals
  • Perform various dosing techniques with small and large animals
  • May perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals
  • Collect biological samples
  • Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC)

  • Report on any animals concerns to supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or related program OR Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences field AND 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior animal research experience
  • Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
  • Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings
  • Good time management skills
  • AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!
Additional Job Standards
  • Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment
  • Ability to assess and differentiate between normal and abnormal species-specific behavior for a variety of laboratory animal species
  • Ability to effectively describe and communicate animal behavior observations using in accordance with established professional behavior terminology
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
Pay Rate:

$22/hr.

Your work will contribute to improving the lives and wellness of both people and animals around the world. In this position you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances. You’ll be maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
