Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate biorepository studies from initiation to completion per protocols.
  • Maintain accurate biospecimen records: collection, storage, processing, distribution.
  • Use LIMS to track specimens, inventory, and generate reports.
  • Ensure HIPAA, IRB, and institutional policy compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain informed consent forms, protocols, and regulatory docs.
  • Communicate study progress with team members and collaborators.
  • Perform quality assurance on biospecimen handling and documentation.
  • Assist in organizing study meetings and trainings.
  • Support development and implementation of SOPs for biorepository ops.
  • Monitor and report KPIs related to specimen collection, processing, storage.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Research Study Coordinator I to join our biorepository research team in Detroit, United States. In this role, you will serve as a critical support function for our research operations, managing biospecimen inventory, coordinating study activities, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will work collaboratively with researchers, laboratory staff, and administrative teams to maintain the integrity and accessibility of our biorepository resources while supporting the success of ongoing research initiatives.

  • Coordinate and manage biorepository research studies from initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to study protocols and timelines
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of biospecimens, including collection, storage, processing, and distribution activities
  • Utilize electronic laboratory information systems (LIMS) to track specimens, manage inventory, and generate reports
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA regulations, Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, and institutional policies
  • Prepare and maintain study documentation, including informed consent forms, study protocols, and regulatory correspondence
  • Communicate effectively with research team members, participants, and external collaborators regarding study progress and specimen availability
  • Perform quality assurance checks on biospecimen handling procedures and documentation to maintain data integrity
  • Assist with the organization and execution of study-related meetings and training sessions
  • Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for biorepository operations
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics related to specimen collection, processing, and storage
Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in biorepository management, laboratory coordination, or clinical research support
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic laboratory information systems (LIMS) or similar data management platforms
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, including HIPAA and IRB protocols
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software systems quickly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with biospecimen handling, processing, or cryopreservation techniques
  • Familiarity with research protocols and standard operating procedures in a biorepository or clinical research setting
  • Project management experience or certification
  • Experience with quality assurance and quality control procedures in a research environment
  • Knowledge of specimen storage systems and inventory management best practices
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent research studies
