Job summary

UAB invites applications for a Research Software Engineer-ENT role to support Enterprise Research Computing systems used by university researchers. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer science, engineering or other relevant scientific and two (2) years of related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work independently to design, develop, test, and deploy applications to support access to and use of a campus HPC, on-prem cloud, container and storage platform; maintain the application; establish best practices and documentation for long-term maintainability.
• Provide application support to researchers; define requirements and constraints for the overall software solution; develop scope and project management plans and meet milestone delivery timelines.
• Collaborate with other software engineers to understand existing tools and how they could be integrated; maintain open collaboration with researchers to fit research needs.
• Transfer knowledge and provide documentation, technical assistance and mentorship to researchers and staff; communicate software engineering concepts to domain experts; stay updated on tools and computing hardware.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
