Job summary

Air Liquide’s Customer Processes - Electronics group at the Innovation Campus Delaware (ICD) is seeking a Research Scientist to advance semiconductor material development. You will design etching gases, develop analytical methods, and perform comprehensive material studies to support next‑gen electronics.

The role requires a Ph.D. or equivalent with strong collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field, or Master’s with 3+ years industry experience.
  • Strong experience with multiple analytical and film characterization techniques (GC, MS, ICP-MS, FTIR, Ellipsometry, XRR, XPS, AES, SEM).
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary, international teams and communicate results clearly.
  • Excellent publication/presentation record in technical settings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects on plasma etching processes and gas design for semiconductor applications.
  • Develop and implement new gas analytical methods to characterize electronic specialty gases.
  • Study structure–property relationships using in-situ and ex-situ analysis and film characterization.
  • Plan and execute bench- to pilot-scale experiments to meet R&D deliverables.
  • Identify patentable findings and contribute to IP development and literature reviews.
  • Collaborate with global Air Liquide partners and internal teams to transfer process know-how.
  • Prepare technical materials for internal teams and external conferences/journals.
  • Manage multiple projects with a proactive, adaptable approach.
