Job summary

Teledyne Scientific & Imaging in North Carolina seeks a Research Scientist to advance AI, autonomy, and computer vision research. You will define novel algorithms, analyze signals, and integrate hardware and software across PC, GPU, and embedded platforms.

The role emphasizes collaboration with world-class scientists, strong communication, and applying mathematical and engineering principles to solve challenging problems in imaging and sensing technologies.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 0–5 years of post-doctoral or equivalent research experience.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming with Python.
  • Hands-on experience with C and/or C++.
  • Strong background in signal processing and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with CUDA and GPU programming (strongly desired).
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and deliver innovative solutions for advanced technology applications.
  • Conduct research in artificial intelligence, autonomy, target detection & tracking, and decision systems.
  • Design and implement advanced algorithms on PC, GPU, and embedded architectures.
  • Perform sophisticated signal processing, statistical analysis, and systems engineering tasks.
  • Support hardware/software integration, testing, and evaluation of applied technologies.
  • Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and collaborative research proposals.
  • Travel occasionally to support programs and collaborations (less than 5%).
