Job summary

The University at Buffalo seeks a studies coordinator to manage funded research projects under the PI/Chair of Medicine. You will oversee recruitment, visits, retention, and compliance with IRB and HHS policies.

You will develop electronic databases (REDCap, Excel), write grant materials, manage protocol documents, and support data analysis using Stata or R. You will train staff and support community engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating studies including recruitment, visit conduct and retention of human subjects.
• Familiarity with IRB/HHS policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to support training of staff and senior researchers on procedures and SOPs.

Job description

Work independently under the general direction of the PI/Chair of Medicine to manage implementation of funded research studies.

Primary Functions

Study coordination, training and support

• Oversee study procedures including recruitment, study visit conduct, and retention of human subjects
• Ensure adherence to HHS and IRB policy
• Oversee workload across teams and evaluation of performance of team members to the principal investigator
• Support training of postdocs, fellows, and students on study procedures and standard operating procedure requirements
• Support interview team for hiring of incoming research staff
• Train and mentor study staff on policies, procedures, and best practices
• Provide administrative support for grant activities
• Serve as a resource to study staff

Grant and study development

• Develop and manage electronic databases for studies, including REDCap, Excel, etc.
• Develop and write documents to be used in grants for submissions
• Develop grant related materials, including questionnaires, intervention manuals, and study forms
• Develop protocols, informed consent forms, and participant materials for funded studies

IRB compliance and regulatory training

• Manage IRB processes, including protocol submissions, continuing reviews, and amendments for Division studies
• Manage ClinicalTrials.gov processes, including updates and serve as contact

Data analysis and research dissemination

• Support analysis of research data using Stata, R, or other statistical software
• Develop and present abstracts at national and international scientific meetings
• Collate data from national, regional, and county level sources

Community engagement support

• Coordinate community events and recruitment events planned in the community
• Identify appropriate community events, coordinate with event planning team, and coordinate with Department of Medicine community engagement and research committees on dissemination
