Job summary

The Associated Press is seeking a Research Product Manager to lead investigations, define product concepts, and collaborate with engineering on AP Intelligence capabilities. You will turn questions into hypotheses, work with data and prototypes, and shape decisions for reliable, scalable intelligence.

You will partner with journalists, AI teams and commercial groups to ensure value, quality and clear articulation of risk, impact and timelines across teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant professional experience with product/AI/data roles.
• Proven ability to turn ambiguous problems into structured questions and experiments.
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking with patterns in complex information.
• Comfort with data exploration, outputs and lightweight analyses.

Responsibilities

• Lead research into event intelligence, structured news data and AI systems.
• Translate research into product concepts, requirements and recommendations for engineering teams.
• Partner with engineering and applied AI teams to identify failure modes and improve quality.
• Use evidence to guide AP Intelligence priorities and roadmaps.
• Synthesize diverse perspectives into clear decisions for technical and nontechnical audiences.
