Job summary

The Associated Press is seeking an intellectually curious Research Product Manager to lead research and product definition for AP Intelligence capabilities. This is a 0→1 individual contributor role focused on turning broad questions into structured hypotheses and experiments.

You will work with data, customers and prototypes to translate learnings into concrete product decisions and requirements, partnering with editors, engineers and AI teams to impact our intelligence products.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant professional experience in product management or analytics.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into structured questions, experiments and product recommendations.
• Strong technical and data fluency, with curiosity about AI systems and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead research into ambiguous product questions across event intelligence, structured data, knowledge graphs, real-time information and AI systems.
• Turn questions into hypotheses, experiments and evaluation frameworks.
• Work hands-on with AP datasets and product outputs, using SQL, Python, notebooks, LLMs and lightweight prototypes to test ideas.
• Define product concepts, requirements and recommendations for engineering teams.
• Partner with journalists, engineers and senior leaders to align on value and roadmap.
