Job summary

Kairos is seeking a Research Manager to mentor SPAR mentors, helping them run their teams, navigate conflicts, and share their work with the right audiences. The role is remote, part-time, with coordination across cohorts and hubs.

You’ll coach early‑career researchers, ensure meetings run effectively, manage mentee expectations, and contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring quality as SPAR grows. Flexible start date.

Qualifications

• Substantial research experience, such as a PhD, a research role, or multiple completed projects.
• Ability to handle delicate conversations with tact and discretion.
• Strong written and verbal communication with direct feedback skills.
• Excellent organizational skills to support many mentors under deadlines.
• Familiarity with the AI safety ecosystem and its research agendas.
• Commitment to SPAR's mission and impact.

Responsibilities

• Support mentors across the round as the main point of contact.
• Help first-time mentors become strong research leads through coaching.
• Handle sensitive team situations and guide resolutions.
• Advise on where and how to share research outputs.
• Contribute to recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring quality as SPAR grows.
