Job summary

Howard University is seeking a Laboratory Technician to provide research and administrative support for the PI’s laboratory. This role involves maintaining fly stocks, executing experiments, documenting results, and training team members in standard techniques.

You will present findings at meetings, help manage lab supplies, and assist with routine maintenance; a Bachelor’s in Biology is required, with preference for Drosophila experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or closely related field.
• Experience with Drosophila melanogaster is not required but strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory fly stocks.
• Execute research experiments under the mentorship of the PI and document results in a lab notebook.
• Train students and new staff in routine laboratory techniques and protocols.
• Present work at lab meetings, local seminars, and national conferences.
• Help organize lab consumables and ordering; contribute to routine lab maintenance tasks (e.g., autoclaving, cleaning).
