Job summary

Howard University is seeking a skilled laboratory technician to maintain the lab, cell culture, and mice colony and to analyze human and mouse specimens. The role supports NIH-funded research on kidney disease in sickle cell patients and involves RT-PCR, Western blot, and immunostaining. The candidate will work under supervision; the position is one-year and reports to the supervising PI.

Relevant bioscience experience and a B.S. or M.S. degree are required; salary range disclosed.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S degree in biology, molecular biology, immunology, physiology, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Order laboratory supply and reagents.
• Isolate RNA and proteins from the cells and mouse organs.
• Perform RT-PCR, Western Blot, and immunostaining of paraffin-embedded tissues.
• Collect and organize results.
• Participate in the laboratory meetings.
• Participate in the preparation of IBC, IACUC and IRB protocols.
