Howard University in Washington, DC invites a Laboratory Technician to maintain the laboratory, cell culture, and mice colony, and to test human and mouse specimens for research on sickle cell disease.

This one-year NIH-funded role requires a B.S./M.S in biology or related fields, experience with RT-PCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and RNA/protein isolation, plus strong communication and record-keeping skills. Qualificações

• B.S. or M.S degree in biology, molecular biology, immunology, physiology, or related fields.
• Experience with animal handling, human cell cultures, immunohistochemistry, PCR and Western blot is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsabilidades

• Order laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Isolate RNA and proteins from cells and mouse organs.
• Perform RT-PCR, Western blot, and immunostaining of paraffin-embedded tissues.
• Collect and organize results.
• Participate in laboratory meetings.
• Prepare IBC, IACUC and IRB protocols.
