Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be enrolled in a Biology major.
• Must have completed CH 115, General Chemistry.
• Must adhere to attendance as scheduled.
• Must possess strong attention to detail and good organizational skills with the ability to ensure accurate work.
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee information.
• Ability to work independently but as part of a team concept.

Responsibilities

• Assist Science Lab Assistant: prepare chemical solutions and reagents; prepare and sterilize media; ensure inventory control; clean and sterilize work areas; culture and maintain living biological materials; assist in field work and specimen collection; operate and maintain lab equipment; maintain detailed records.
• Assists Primary Investigators, Student Researchers, and Thesis Students; participate in multiple active research protocols and experiments.
• Operates and maintains advanced laboratory equipment; follows detailed protocols; assists in set-up, maintenance, and tear down of long-term research experiments; disposes of biological hazardous wastes.
• Performs other duties as requested.
