Job summary

Nova Southwestern University seeks a Laboratory Support role to assist in maintaining labs for students, faculty, and researchers. You will monitor activities, enforce safety rules, and prepare supplies to ensure a clean, safe environment.

The position includes setting up equipment, training users, and assisting in safety audits. A Bachelor's in Life or Physical Science plus up to two years in academia are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Life or Physical Science is required.
• Up to two years of experience in an academic or research environment is preferred.
• Lab safety training and compliance knowledge are expected.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supports the activities of students, employees and teaching assistants to ensure that standard policies and practices are followed; enforces all lab safety protocols.
• Cleans, disinfects, maintains, and prepares supplies and work areas to support a clean and safe lab environment
• Sets up, adjusts, calibrates, cleans, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory and field equipment.
• Orders and inventories materials to maintain supplies.
• Provides training and assistance in the use of equipment to ensure efficient usage and is the “room shark” for all the Parker labs.
• Provides and maintains a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory or plant safety audits.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
