Job summary

Nevada State University is seeking a Student Worker - STEM Research Lab Technician to assist in microbiology, chemistry, physics, and related fields. You will support independent studies, CURE projects, and faculty research across multiple STEM areas.

You will help maintain safety, organize supplies, and train students in basic laboratory techniques while ensuring compliant operations and accurate documentation of research activities.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student with at least 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
• Currently enrolled in a biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related program at Nevada State.
• Wet-lab experience or completion of INBRE/iSURF/UROP/EPSCoR or NASA-funded programs.

Responsibilities

• Support student and faculty research across multiple STEM fields.
• Provide lab and technical support for independent studies, program-funded and volunteer research, and CURE-based courses.
• Maintain lab safety, equipment, supplies, and operations.
• Train students in lab techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures.
• Assist with data collection, recording, processing, and maintaining records.
• Manage lab waste and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
