Job Summary

Performs a variety of research and research administration activities in direct support of the Department's research faculty and programs. Responsible for managing the overall functioning of the research operation. Serves as a front-line resource for researchers in the Department, acting as liaison to internal administrative units and external sponsors on matters relating to research programs.

Under the direction of multiple Principal Investigators, Research Lab Operations Manager for the Krantz Family Center for Cancer Research group, provides laboratory and administrative management support to multiple assigned research laboratories. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the smooth daily operation of each laboratory and implements policies and procedures to accomplish efficient management. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with MGH policies, training staff in proper laboratory procedures. The Laboratory Manager works to resolve any problems relating to safety, supplies, equipment by contacting and interacting with appropriate hospital personnel and vendors. The Laboratory Manager also serves as Safety Officer. Oversee daily laboratory operations, including procurement, inventory management, equipment maintenance, vendor coordination, and laboratory supply management to ensure efficient and uninterrupted research activities. Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations by managing laboratory documentation, coordinating inspections, supporting animal and human research protocols, and maintaining required records. Serve as the Laboratory Safety Officer by implementing and monitoring safety programs, maintaining chemical and biological safety documentation, coordinating mandatory safety training, and preparing for laboratory emergencies. Coordinate maintenance, calibration, certification, and service contracts for laboratory equipment while serving as the primary liaison with vendors, facilities, and service providers. Support laboratory personnel by onboarding and training new staff, providing guidance on laboratory policies and procedures, and serving as a key resource for investigators, researchers, and administrative teams. Perform quality and compliance oversight, including reviewing quality control documentation, supporting equipment validation, monitoring hazardous materials handling, and ensuring adherence to laboratory best practices.
