Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business seeks a Lab Research Assistant to join an innovative team. You will help build a framework for Business Language Analysis (BLA) by examining accounting rules in formal documents such as 10-Ks and credit agreements, ensuring traceability of extracted items to sources.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of data collection, analysis, and research methodology experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3-5 years of experience in data collection and analysis, research experience, and/or research methodology experience required.

Responsibilities

• Build out a framework for Business Language Analysis (BLA) leveraging accounting rule structures.
• Source-grounded extraction from long financial-legal documents with verifiable traceability.
• Apply compositional and multi-provision reasoning to integrated data.
• Develop agentic architectures that chain retrieval, tool use, and verification.
• Explore graph-based and tensor methods for financial-statement data.
• Other duties as assigned.
