Job summary

UNLV is seeking a Research Cyberinfrastructure Architect to lead HPC design and implement scalable data-intensive systems. The role partners with UNLV IT and research divisions to translate requirements into robust cyberinfrastructure, encompassing HPC, cloud, and AI/ML workflows.

The candidate will drive architectural standards and provide guidance across researchers and technical staff. Ideal candidates have extensive UNIX/Linux expertise, experience with HPC architectures, and a track record

Qualifications

• This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 5+ years of experience.
• Experience working in a higher education or research-intensive setting is preferred.
• Demonstrated success in leading technically complex projects across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Architect HPC solutions and lead design/development aligned with research needs.
• Develop architectural blueprints and roadmaps for HPC systems and networking.
• Collaborate with researchers and IT teams to translate requirements into scalable HPC solutions.
• Evaluate emerging HPC technologies to inform planning and decisions.
• Establish standards and best practices for HPC architectures and governance.
• Document architectures and provide training to stakeholders.
