Job summary

UNLV invites applications for a Research Cyberinfrastructure Architect to lead HPC design, development and deployment in support of university research and teaching. The role partners with UNLV IT and the Division of Research to deliver scalable data-intensive cyberinfrastructure, including high-performance computing, storage, and networking.

Candidates should have deep UNIX/Linux expertise and a track record in academic HPC environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in HPC or related field.
• Experience in higher education or research-intensive settings preferred.
• Ability to design and implement research computing infrastructure including HPC, storage, and networks.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of HPC solutions aligned with UNLV research needs.
• Develop architectural blueprints and roadmaps for HPC systems (hardware, software, networking).
• Collaborate with researchers and IT teams to translate requirements into scalable HPC solutions.
• Establish standards and best practices for HPC architectures and governance.
