Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Research Finance Team Lead within the Office for Sponsored Programs to supervise staff and manage post-award activities for a large portfolio of federal and non-federal sponsored research projects.

The role reports to the Portfolio Team Manager, oversees financial reporting, invoicing, and award closeout, and mentors staff while maintaining strong client relationships across schools and departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations (Uniform Guidance, FAR).
• Proven supervisory experience and ability to lead a team.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee post-award activities for a large portfolio of sponsored projects.
• Review expenditures for compliance with award terms and prepare financial reports.
• Manage invoicing, cash collection, and account reconciliation.
• Mentor staff and manage workload across the team.
• Represent Research Finance on committees and IT projects as needed.
• Develop reporting mechanisms and financial models in Excel.
