Job summary

You will create and mature 3D models with DfAM, perform design analyses in Creo, and collaborate across programs to meet cost, schedule, and quality goals while leveraging tools like nTopology, Materialise Magics, and PLM/MES data management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling with Creo required.
  • Experience supporting programs or product development efforts.
  • Experience with mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and engineering drawing/model development.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geometry assessments, support strategy evaluations, build orientation studies, and design trade analyses.
  • Develop and modify engineering designs in Creo to support AM development and program needs.
  • Support engineering efforts tied to active programs, ensuring designs meet technical, manufacturing, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Coordinate with program stakeholders to mature hardware designs and integrate AM solutions where appropriate.
  • Evaluate AM processes and resulting hardware to inform design improvements and manufacturability.
  • Analyze build results, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall manufacturability.
  • Utilize advanced design and computational tools such as Creo, nTopology, Materialise Magics, 3DXpert, and related digital engineering platforms.
  • Support digital thread activities, including data management, configuration control, and traceability within PLM/MES environments.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, test plans, design documentation, and briefing materials for internal and customer reviews.

Description

The Research Engineer Sr will join the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) Additive Manufacturing team in Grand Prairie, TX. This role supports the development, maturation, and transition of additive manufacturing (AM) materials, processes, designs, and digital workflows for mission-critical applications.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop, refine, and mature 3D models using design-for-additive-manufacturing (DfAM) principles for AM applications.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.

Desired Skills
  • Professional experience in mechanical engineering, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or product development.
  • Experience applying DfAM principles to hardware development.
  • Experience with computational design tools such as nTopology or similar advanced digital engineering tools.
  • Additional CAD experience with CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with AM processes and related design considerations.
  • Experience with PLM, MES, or other digital thread/configuration management systems.
  • Experience supporting development or production programs in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and present technical results clearly.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $98100.00 - $182100.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
