Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern for the Grand Prairie, TX site. The role supports production and design, helping resolve technical challenges and updating drawings and BOMs with Windchill PLM.

You will develop CREO layouts, generate ICDs, participate in IPT coordination, conduct design trades, and assist with change processes. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with CAD tool proficiency and hands-on hardware experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
• Basic understanding of CAD design tools such as Creo, 3DX/CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

• Develop CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
• Build BOMs in Windchill PLM and manage parts and design docs.
• Coordinate with IPT, Global Supply Chain, and analysts to ensure design excellence.

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to support the Grand Prairie, TX site.

The successful candidate must demonstrate highly innovative approaches to resolve production and design issues.

This candidate will be responsible for the following actions: assisting production and development teams, resolving technical challenges, incorporating engineering changes, updating drawings / assembly parts lists, and developing new designs and tools.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for Interface Control Drawings (ICDs), components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
• Building BOMs (Bill of Materials) creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM
• Interacting with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) team suppliers, Global Supply Chain, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence
• Contributing to drawing releases, responding to Change Requests (CRs), generating Change Notices (CN's), and supporting change boards and design reviews
• Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
• Basic understanding of CAD design tools, such as PTC Creo, 3DX/CATIA, Solidworks, Siemens NX etc.
• Demonstrated successful group collaboration and/ or individual project work, ideally in a mechanics or design area.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, work with system integration issues, design challenges, etc. demonstrated through hands-on experience.

Desired Skills

• Hands‑on experience with machining, rapid prototyping, or lab equipment (CNC, 3‑D printers, test rigs)
• Experienced with GD&T, sketching, technical drawing standards, or similar hands‑on hardware support.
• Basic FEA/CFD exposure (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL).
• Participation in engineering clubs, competitions (e.g. SAE, ASME competitions).
• Basic understanding of industry standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM).
• Experience with MATLAB.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $20.14 - $28.15

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
