Job summary

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) is seeking a Research Engineer (Electrical / Power Systems) to support rapid R&D in Colorado Springs, CO.

The role focuses on power systems engineering, modeling, simulations, and test execution within DoD/DoE programs. Responsibilities include calculations, developing specs, executing tests, and documenting results while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, and technicians.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 0–2 years of directly applicable power systems Electrical Engineering experience
• F.E. exam completion or E.I.T. certification
• US Citizen with the ability to obtain TS DoD security clearance
• Willingness to perform light physical activity and work in a controlled environment

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations using first principles
• Model and simulate, interpreting real-world test data
• Assist development of specifications and requirements
• Design and execute specialized tests with peer oversight
• Write test plans, technical reports, and briefings
