Job summary

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) seeks a Research Engineer in Colorado Springs to advance high-power electromagnetics and power systems R&D.

You will work with engineers, physicists, and technicians on DoD/DoE programs, performing calculations, modeling, and test design. Requirements include a Master’s in Electrical Engineering (or related field), 0–2 years experience, strong communication, and ability to obtain TS clearance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 0–2 years of power systems Electrical Engineering experience.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities.
• US citizenship with ability to obtain TS DoD clearance.
• Light physical effort up to 50 pounds; indoor, well-lit environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and apply physics first principles.
• Model and simulate problems; interpret test data.
• Execute engineering studies under peer oversight.
• Assist development of specifications and requirements.
• Design and execute specialized tests with peer oversight.
• Write test plans, technical reports, and maintain documentation; deliver briefs.
• Collaborate with engineering teams of varying sizes.
