Job summary

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) in Colorado Springs seeks a Senior Research Engineer (Electrical / Power Systems) to advance R&D and power systems studies on DoD/DoE programs.

Based in Colorado Springs, you will join the High-Power Electromagnetics Division and lead technically rigorous efforts with engineers, physicists, and technicians. The role requires a Master’s degree (or higher) and 8+ years in power systems EE, plus DoD security eligibility.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of directly applicable power systems Electrical Engineering experience
• US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain TS DoD security clearance
• Experience using data acquisition equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, voltage/current probes
• Strong writing and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Perform self-guided engineering calculations applying physics first principles
• Model and simulate engineering problems, interpret real-world test data
• Develop specifications and requirements for programs
• Design and execute specialized tests
• Write test plans, technical reports, and deliver technical briefings
• Collaborate with engineering teams of varying sizes
