Job summary

Axle in the United States is seeking a Research Data Manager to build and maintain data infrastructure for the SOM Center, integrating LIMS, Invenio, and metadata pipelines to ensure data is findable, traceable, and reusable in line with NIH guidelines.

You will bring together instrument, assay, and analysis data with cloud-native tooling and AI/ML to enhance data discovery and usability for researchers and collaborators.

Qualifications

• Experience with data integration and ETL workflows to connect lab instruments and pipelines.
• Ability to wrangle and convert heterogeneous data into standardized schemas.
• Experience deploying and maintaining research data management systems (Invenio).
• Strong database design, migrations, indexing, and backup/recovery skills.
• Ability to incorporate ML/AI into data workflows and UI features.
• Proficiency in cloud-native tooling and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience evaluating data management tools and standards for leadership.
• Ability to train staff and document procedures effectively.

Responsibilities

• Data integration: connect instruments, analysis pipelines and data sources to LIMS; build ingestion pipelines with validation and logging.
• Data wrangling: write scripts to convert and harmonize data formats into standardized schemas.
• Repository and document management: deploy and support systems like Invenio; manage metadata and access controls.
• Database development: design and maintain databases for experimental metadata and datasets.
• AI/ML-assisted discovery: integrate ML/AI into data workflows and interfaces for semantic search and auto-annotation.
• Platform and cloud engineering: develop, containerize and deploy solutions on cloud or Kubernetes; maintain CI/CD and IaC.
• Tool evaluation: assess data management packages and compile technical assessments for leadership.
• Training and documentation: train staff and write SOPs and technical docs.
